The Rhyader Tunnel on the Cambrian 'spine of Wales' line is one of two tunnels in the area. The tunnel is approximately 300m long and single track. The tunnel is presently bricked up, the work was done in 1992 to create a bat roost. The southern portal is accessible but the northern approach cutting is overgrown and partly flooded.
