The Hereford to Gloucester Railway Incorporated 4 tunnels along its route. Three are in the Wye Valley, where the route followed a relatively straight line, cutting across the meanders of the River Wye on a sreies of viaducts and through the headlands through a series of cuttings and tunnels. The Ballingham Tunnel was the longest of the tunnels of the route at 1202 yards long. It is open and accessible at its north end.
