Due to its location, joining two valleys and poor maintenance of drainage culverts, this tunnel is very wet. The east portal is 'flooded' by about 1' of soft mud, and a stream flows out of the west portal. Until it was gated, a local farmer used it to drive cattle between fields. According to this farmer, there is a 'bad gas' problem in the tunnel due to rotting vegetation and mud inside.
